My passion for technology brought me to KU Leuven , where I graduated with a master in mechanical engineering .

 

After my studies I gained experience in industrial energy projects at Monsanto and Vyncke , where I worked on the construction and sales of biomass installations in Europe and Asia. This is how I also became involved in greenhouse horticulture projects in the Netherlands and Australia – and my interest in this sector grew.

 

During a conversation with my father-in-law, Johan Verheyen – former insurance broker and current loss adjuster for greenhouse horticulture – one thing became clear: there is also a need for independent energy consultants in Europe who speak the language of horticulturalists . These insights and the practical experience from previous projects made me take the step in 2020 to start as an independent consultant.

 

Greenhouse horticulture is based on trust – and you have to earn it. To build my network from within, I started inspecting water silos . That literally put me in the greenhouses and I started talking to growers about their energy challenges. In the meantime, that has grown into WEVE: a reliable partner for inspections and independent energy advice.

 

From all these conversations, WEVE's mission grew: to help horticulturalists focus on what really matters – a top-quality end product – without worrying about energy, government obligations or insurance conditions .
